Lord Julian Rutherford was a nobleman and cousin to Lord Ember with whom he feuded over the Bloodline Opal. He had lost it to Ember in an archery contest but disputed the results.
Very much wanting to acquire the opal for himself, Julian went to the Blue Heron Inn and met with Lord Ember’s cook. The two concocted a plan to steal the opal, allowing Julian to claim his place as head of the Rutherford family.
Garrett stole Julian’s medallion and overheard their conversation, allowing him to break into Rutherford Castle.
