Much of Thief’s narrative and lore can be gleaned from the voiced briefings and painterly cutscenes before each mission. The enigmatic Factions are known primarily through the long quotes that open them. These quotes are presented as excerpts from the writings of each group and, though not always relevant to the mission, are effective at setting the tone.
