Rope Arrow

Rope Arrows have been specially engineered to assist in vertical exploration. When fired into wooden surfaces, the rope wrapped around the arrow’s shaft will uncoil and fall, providing a means of ascension.

Uses

  • Allows access to otherwise unreachable areas
  • Assists with infiltration or escape
  • Can be retrieved

Tactics

As previously mentioned, the Rope Arrow’s main limitation is that it must be shot into wooden walls, ceilings, or objects. If it strikes any other surface, such as stone or metal, it will ricochet off and be wasted.

In addition, the length of the rope is limited so it won’t always be accessible if the wood it’s stuck in is too high above you.

Like Broadhead Arrows, Rope Arrows can retrieved, but doing so causes the rope to disappear. This means that if you retrieve the arrow while still holding on to the rope, Garrett will fall to the ground.

With these parameters in mind, there are two ways to use them. The first is to find a wooden surface near a balcony or window, then climb the rope until you’re above it. At this point face the ledge or terrace and jump on to it.

The second method is shooting a Rope Arrow directly into the feature you intend to access, like a tall crate or wooden beam. Once you reach the edge of it, you can climb on to it and retrieve the arrow before moving on.

Both techniques are good for infiltrating buildings, finding alternate routes, avoiding loud surfaces or traps, or simply finding a vantage point to scout an area or shoot an enemy without being seen.

A final trick can also be utilized when confronted by enemies that are searching for you. If you’re in a space with a wooden ceiling or beam, quickly fire a Rope Arrow into it and ascend. If Garrett is high enough, you’ll be out of the enemies field of vision and remain undetected.
