Holy Water has been sanctified by the Hammerites, giving it the power to damage the Undead. It can be found in two containers: Vials and Flasks.
Uses
- Converts Water Arrows into Holy Water Arrows for 30 seconds (TDP)
- Can be thrown at Undead enemies for an instant kill (TDS)
- Creates a Holy Water puddle if thrown on the ground (TDS)
Tactics
In Thief: The Dark Project, Holy Water Vials bless your remaining Water Arrows, temporarily making them an effective weapon against Undead foes.
The blessing lasts for 30 seconds from the moment the Vial is consumed and remains when switching weapons or putting away the bow but will end prematurely if you run out of arrows.
These Holy Water projectiles can be an efficient method of protecting yourself when venturing into haunted areas, but only if you posses both Vials and Water Arrows in equal measure.
Hammerite Priests are also said to have access to Holy Water Fonts, shimmering fountains that provide them with a near unlimited supply of the blessed water. Should you come across one, it’s reasonable to assume it will similarly sanctify your Water Arrows.
In Thief: Deadly Shadows, Holy Water Flasks are thrown at the Undead, as contact with such a concentrated amount results in an instant kill.
They can also be cast on the ground, leaving behind a pool of Holy Water. This creates a sacred barrier that any Undead pursuers cannot pass through, making it an ideal way to cover a hasty retreat.
