The Blackjack is a small leather bludgeon used to knock out foes. It is a default weapon and thus cannot be dropped or lost.
Uses
- Knocks out most Humans and Beasts in one blow
- Knocks out Burricks and Crawmen, but their bodies cannot be moved
- Undead, Spiders, and Guards wearing helmets cannot be knocked out
- Must strike the target from behind (TDS)
- Only works on unaware enemies (TDS)
Tactics
The Blackjack’s strength comes from its ability to knock out opponents silently and without killing them. And unlike the Sword and Dagger, it does not make Garrett more visible when held.
Though rare, it can kill civilians with low health, and should therefore be used with caution on Hard or Expert difficulties.
In Thief: Deadly Shadows, the Blackjack is only effective when striking an unaware enemy from behind. Garrett will now automatically raise the Blackjack to indicate when he can successfully knock out an enemy.
