South Quarter is located between Newmarket and the Docks. It is a densely populated district largely filled with middle-class citizens, but the presence of Pavelock Prison marks it is a neighborhood with a higher crime rate.
Perhaps not coincidentally, it is also home to Garrett’s apartment. In Thief: Deadly Shadows, this is where players can practice their archery and lockpicking in between missions.
The district sees little activity most of the time, with few Watchmen or people wandering its streets. The north square contains a fountain and gate leading north to Stonemarket.
The southern area has a Well in the eastern corner, a gate leading to the Docks in southeast corner, Pavelock Prison on the south end, a Watch station west of that, and a market stall on the north side.
The west road leads to Black Alley, a seedy area home to a fence named Heartless Perry and a thieving supply store.
